Over the years, she has been the advice columnist for both Teen People and Sassy teen magazines. She also gave teens advice in weekly live chats on AOL.
She has a BS from Cornell University, an MS from the University of Pennsylvania, an MA and Ph.D. from Columbia Univeristy, where she currently teaches graduate students an Adolescent Psychology course two semesters each year.
Widely known for appearing on television to discuss teen issues, she also works directly with teens in high schools and junior high schools around the US.
